So first off, I am feeling a lot better. This
past week I got pretty nasty sick again. We figured out that I'm
allergic to Paracetamol (that's why I got so sick last time when I took
it for my knee). I had taken some for a headache I had, then it was game
over for a couple days. But, I'm (mostly) back on my feet haha.
Unfortunately, it really wasn't a good week to be sick, we had ZERO time
to relax and rest up.
Last P-Day we decided
not to go to the Gardens of Versailles. We were gonna be super rushed
and we want to see them when we have a whole afternoon. So instead we
went back to the Eiffel Tower and took some pictures from Trocadero, a
pretty famous building right down the street where Hitler gave a huge
speech after overtaking Paris. Afterward, we just relaxed and tried not
to go too crazy. I didn't end up buying pants, but I still need to.
So on Sunday
we had to pick up Soeur Plante at the train station. She is from St.
Brieuc, and she's been serving as a Visa waiter in Lorient for about a
transfer. She is finally heading out for the MTC. So after church
and everything we picked her up (her train was over an hour late) and
hauled her stuff back to the Mission Home. It was pretty funny to see
the Babins relaxed at home on a Sunday night, it's a side of them that pretty much only us and the APs get to see :)
Monday
morning we left early to take Soeur Plante to the airport. She flew out
from another airport that we've never used before just south of Paris.
We got there after sitting in some hefty traffic, then found out that
NONE of the normal parking was tall enough for our van. We went and
talked to a worker, and he told us to just park in taxi parking, but not
too stay too long because it wasn't really allowed haha. So we ran in,
went to get her checked in... and her flight got cancelled. So I spent
the rest of the morning on the phone with church travel and working with
the airline workers getting her a new flight to Salt Lake. We were
pretty lucky, the workers were so great to us, and we got her
checked in and left the airport without any problems :) That afternoon
we went to IKEA (big shocker, right?) to buy everything for the new
couple apartment in Charleville-Mézières.
Tuesday
we got on the road early for Charleville. We hit traffic in Paris, so
it turned our 3 hour drive into a 5 hour drive :P So we got there,
grabbed a bite to eat in town, then went in to the office in
centreville. I signed all the papers, and we walked over to the
apartment to do the opening condition report. After, it was just
assembling furniture. The electricity hadn't been turned on yet, so we
ended up having to finish building the bed in the dark. We made the long
drive home (luckily no traffic) and crashed like logs once we got to
the apartment.
Wednesday
was exciting! We had another group come in for their OFII legality
trip, and so we were in charge of the whole thing. The Assistants were
out picking up the new couple, since we had to give trainings. So, I had
to conduct and run the whole thing haha. Things went pretty
smoothly, just lots of waiting and hoping people passed and got legal :)
I got to hang out with Elder Mattson in the Visitor's Center for a
couple minutes that night, that was great! I missed that guy, I can't
believe it's been almost 6 months since he left Le Mans! I also saw
Elder Stucki that day, which was perfect! It's been almost A YEAR since I
left Epinal and he and I were comps. It's great seeing these guys after
so long :)
Thursday
was pretty laid back, mostly office work. We worked with Elder and
Sister Wilson, the new couple that will be serving in Charleville.
They're pretty cool, both pretty on the ball. They're exactly what they
need in that branch up there. I keep dropping hints to Président that if
he wants to open up a set of Elders in Charleville, I want to be the
one to open it! I fell in love with that city when we were there, it's
so cool :) Other than that we just caught up on office work and got
ready for transfer stuff!
Friday
we picked up the OTHER new senior couple, the Redds. They're from Utah
and they're so funny! They'll be serving in Liège, but I haven't found
their apartment yet so they'll be living in Bruxelles for a little
while. Afterwards, I went crazy on finishing the repertoire. They let us
see the transfer board that afternoon, and I had to make the repertoire
for the whole mission by this morning. So it was a long day in front of
the computer haha. I had it all finished last night, then this morning I
opened it up and there was some sort of glitch that just destroyed the
first page. So I was frantically redoing that this morning before we had
to send it out at noon.
The APs had to schedule and buy all the train tickets for the whole
mission as well last night, so we all had really long nights and early
mornings till it got sent out. So we rewarded ourselves by going out to
eat :) Other than that today has been really chill :)
No, I never did get that package, I was gonna ask you if you have a
shipping number or anything? Shipment to the Mission Home is really
accurate, so it's not like it's just sitting in the post office here
without us knowing.
I ended up using the
refunded personal money to replace my backpack and my winter coat so I
didn't have to use my card for that... So that's all evened out.
It
was pretty easy to store all my presents, no worries. and don't worry,
they're tucked back in my closet so I'm not tempted to peek at them :) I
haven't been able to think of anything else for the holidays, there's
just not anything I really need from home right now I guess. If you
could order that "I CAN DO IT" watch from Soeur Poznanski's site I would
love that, but other than that, probably just money for Soldes, which
doesn't start until January. I don't think I'll be getting another suit,
but that way I can get some nice French shirts and pants, and maybe some
normal clothes for after the mission.
Elder Christiansen and I DIED when we read about Toy Story 4 haha.
It
sounds like Wade's baptism was fun, tell him congrats from me! I can't
believe how old he is. Also, what an awesome Stake Presidency! We are
pretty lucky, that's for sure :)
Well, thanks so much for your letter, I loved it! Have a great week. Love you!
